Halogen cooking!

Post  Olay on Fri Oct 08, 2010 5:41 pm

My father was given one of these as a gift and said it was rubbish so passed it to me. I had seen the state of his jacket potatoes and other atttempts so intended selling it on ebay. Laughing
Anyway........we were redoing the kitchen and I was only able to cook using the microwave so out came the halogen cooker. My first thing was a frozen chicken, I put it in (frozen) and followed the times etc. That chicken was one of the best we ever tasted, it was moist and done to a turn. I carried on using the halogen for different things...steak/sausages/pies/fishfingers/tuna steaks/jacket potatoes/etc etc etc.
You can bake cakes and cook cassaroles, in fact anything you would cook in your conventional oven. Its saved us a fortune in running costs and the food is cooked perfectly.
I am just about to order another one that cleans itself. Its only £49 from Ideal World and the old one can go away and just be a back up for xmas etc.

If you have seen these advertised and thought about getting one then, honestly, go for it, they are great.

The ideal World one for £49 has a 'armed' lid. You just lift it back rather than have to take the whole lid off and find a spot on your kitchen worktop to rest it. You would also find that when you pick the lid back up, its left grease marks or whatever and you'll be forever wiping up after it. Sounds like a mute point but its a bleeding nuisance.

The cheaper one you found there has a very small capacity. Even if you live alone you need a larger cooking area because you can cook more or less all of your meal at the same time.

I dont work on commision for Ideal World honest. test

You know how shite I am at pc thingys, if this doesnt work then google Ideal World and follow the links to 'kitchen' 'cookers'. There is a video too! You can get one with free lazer knife or one with free extension ring. Go for the extension ring.

http://www.idealworld.tv/Cookshop_Large_11L_Halogen_Oven_with_5L_Extension_Ring_163088.aspx?fh_location=//idealworld/en_GB/categories@lt;{idealworld_1001_8010}/kitchen_appliances_iw@gt;{hobs202620ovens}&showVideo=1

Also if you have Ideal World on your TV, check the guide for when they are selling the oven. It will show the chef coooking all sorts of lovely stuff.

I swear if you watch the chef on TV you will be munching your own arm. test

Ive been putting a bit of chilli dipping sauce on the potatoes.

Ohhh and you know those packet of sponge mixes? You just add and egg and mix? Well, pour some golden syrup into a bowl and pop the mix on top. It will have baked you a treacle sponge while you eat your dinner.

I'll shut up now, I can go on and on. Laughing
